It's a start...

Next month I'm collecting items for the NSW Women's Refuges (victims of domestic violence) and the wonderful volunteer women of the Knit4Charities group will be sending me a huge collection of garments, toys and rugs as they always do each year, to deliver to the admin. centre for distribution to the 53 centres. Although I have a few items made already, now is the time to really start knitting so these mitts and the childs sleeveless jumper are the most recent items off the needles. Last year 568 items were donated for the centres, a wonderful result.

  1. Great reminder Marion. I like to send projects for this charity. My needles have been clicking.
Curious, but is there ages/sizes that receive very little (other than adults and teens) :-)

  2. Hello Maria
Thanks for the comment. Welcome back after your great holiday. There always seems to be a shortage of older children's garments as most people make for toddlers and younger. So a sleeveless vest (pattern on my site) for a 6, 8 or 10 year old (boy or girl) would be most appreciated. This is an easy and practical pattern and good to wear over a shirt. Machine wash wool is a good choice and yarn with a twist like Bendigo Classic is very hardwearing for this age group. I'm targeting this age group at present too.

    Best wishes
    Marion

  4. It never ceases to amaze me how generous knitters can be with their time and wool. I hope you get a record number of items for for refuge.
